Bologna Smart City Exhibition

From 22 to 24 October more than 30 dates focus on cities of today and tomorrow, for a new renaissance based on technology.

From 22 to 24 October the third edition of Smart City Exhibition comes back in Bologna, addressed to innovation in smart cities and communities. The exhibition Bologna Fiere will host politicians, entrepreneurs and associations in order to value the best experiences in our Country and identify international successful models that can be replayed in Italy.

Smart City Exhibition programme is the best way to understand this event. The first two editions were dedicated to track logical frame and outline the features of smart cities. The third edition of the exhibition will be addressed to the governance and the policies for the Smart City, analyzing the best projects that cities have promoted during the last years.

Carlo Mochi Sismondi, Forum PA President (main promoter of the event), thinks that urban renewal can be achieved through the cooperation among more subjects, collaboration among citizens and smart technologies:

The great opportunities that Community grants give and actual national projects on smart cities and communities need a moment of careful consideration and a meeting with main actors, in order to take the best from this great opportunity of innovation. The best smart cities solution will be shown at SCE, enlightening not only technological issues but also social frameworks.

Date and speakers

Congresses, workshops and laboratories addresses to the features that make “smart” a city. One of the most important topics is Job and Enterprise, in a congress that focus on the experience of “Waag society” one of the most famous fablab of the world.

Some of the speakers will be: Graziano Delrio, his colleague at MISE Simona Vicari (who is delegate to smart city), Juan Clos, CEO of UN-Habitat, UN agency for urban development , Pierre Sallenave, general director for Franch National agency for Urban Requalification; Robin Gurlay, food policy responsible for Scottish government; Chang Tianle, creator of one of the first farmers market in Cina, Alessandra Poggiani, Agid director, Francesco Profumo, president of Observatory Smart City of ANCI; Luis Prez Breva, innovation expert of MIT of Boston.

Smart City Exhibition will show some important exemples of sharing societies. At SCE 2014 will start the project Sharitories, a platform of sharing knowing that aim to build a toolkit that is essential to start sharing and collaborative activities in their local areas. Moreover, will be shown the outcomes of My Neighbourhood-My City, a project funded by European Union.

A new topic has been inspired by Expò: the relationship between food and city, to investigate the future of urban food policy. A panel of international speaker will on new models for the relationship among food, health, environment and enterprises.

Also vertical issues such as mobility will be discussed. At the conference “Sustainable mobility in urban areas. Innovative technologies and shared mobility: cities change paradigm” the focus will be on strategic political visions, able to integrate different elements necessary to revolutionize urban mobility.

Other topics of the SCE will be safety, tourism, health, digital agenda, gender policies, suburban revolution, infrastructures, cultures of mayors and Mediterranean area. At this third edition will be also shown the outcomes of Annual iCity Rate, the rank of the smartest cities in Italy. iCity Rate, realized by FORUM PA, with Istat, Unioncamere and some associations of active citizenship, is useful for Italian cities and all the actors of urban policies in order to improve urban life quality.
